Colanthelia är ett släkte i familjen gräs och består av cirka 11 arter. Släktet har sitt naturliga utbredningsområde i Brasilien och södra Sydamerika.

Colanthelia innehåller arter som är tuvbildande, utvecklar korta rhizomer, är fleråriga växter som har lansettformade blad. Bladen utvecklas utmed grenarna, som utvecklas längs strået, och blir från 8 till 17 millimeter breda. Plantan utvecklar ett upprättväxande, ledat och vedartat strå som blir från 800 till 1000 centimeter långt samt 15 till 21 millimeter i diameter. Strået är ihåligt och i änden av grenarna utvecklas en blomställning. Blommorna sitter i småax som i sin tur har en blomställning likt en vippa.

Systematik

Det vetenskapliga namnet Colanthelia fick släktet av Floyd Alonzo McClure & Elmer William Smith i publikationen Smithsonian contributions to botany Vol. 9 när den gavs ut 1973. Typart för släktet är Colanthelia cingulata.
