Urochondra är ett monotypiskt släkte i familjen gräs. Släktet har sitt naturliga utbredningsområde i nordöstra tropiska Afrika, västra Asien, på Arabiska halvön och den indiska subkontinenten.

Urochondra innehåller växter som är tuvbildande, fleråriga örter som har linjära blad. Bladen är basala och blir från 2 till 7 millimeter breda. Plantan utvecklar ett ledat strå som blir från 10 till 40 centimeter långt. Strået är ihåligt och i änden av strået utvecklas en blomställning. Blommorna sitter i småax som i sin tur har en blomställning likt ett ax.

Systematik

Det vetenskapliga namnet Urochondra fick släktet av Charles Edward Hubbard i publikationen Hooker's Icones plantarum Vol. 35 när den gavs ut 1947. Typart för släktet är Urochondra setulosa.
