Festuca livida är en art i svingelsläktet och familjen gräs. Arten har sitt naturliga utbredningsområde i centrala Mexiko och vid Mexikanska golfen.
Festuca livida är tuvbildande, fleråriga örter som har linjära blad. Bladen utvecklas både vid basen och utmed strået och blir från 1 till 1,5 millimeter breda samt 2 till 15 centimeter långa. Plantan utvecklar ett ledat strå som blir från 5 till 20 centimeter långt. Strået är ihåligt och i änden av strået utvecklas en blomställning. Blommorna sitter i småax som i sin tur har en blomställning likt en öppen eller spretig vippa.

Systematik
Det vetenskapliga namnet livida fick arten av Karl Sigismund Kunth i publikationen Nova genera et species plantarum Vol. 1 när den gavs ut 1816.
